We believe it is our responsibility to be mindful of the environmental and social impacts of the materials and processes we use. We are committed to embedding more responsible and sustainable business practices, making the changes we can today while continuing to educate ourselves and explore ways to improve.
HANDCRAFTED LOCALLY
All of our jewellery is thoughtfully designed, carved, cast, and finished by hand in Australia. Materials are sourced locally where possible, and from businesses whose values align with our own.
For the chains that come with our pendants, what we cannot source locally are machine-made in Italy.
RESPONSIBLY SOURCED MATERIALS
Silver:
Our precious metals supplier has a strong focus on obtaining environmentally friendly precious metals that are responsibly and ethically sourced from guaranteed conflict-free areas in Australia, respecting the rights of indigenous peoples and fostering positive community relations. They are sourced in a way that does not support, cause, or benefit unlawful conduct, or contribute to serious human rights abuses or breaches of international law.
While a portion of our sterling silver is recycled, we hope to include more recycled materials in our products in the future.
Gemstones:
When we use gemstones, we prioritise Australian stones and use only responsibly sourced or lab-grown stones from a local supplier.
ECO PACKAGING
Jewellery Boxes & Tissue Paper:
Our green jewellery boxes and tissue paper are made from FSC®-certified cardboard/paper and water-based glue.
The FSC® mark means that all materials come from an FSC® forest, where no more wood is cut down than the forest can reproduce. This means better protection of the animal and plant life, and foresters have proper training, safety equipment and a decent wage.
Recycled Cotton Pouches:
Our black cotton pouches that come with our Stacker Rings, are made from 100% recycled cotton.
The boxes and pouches are intended to be kept and reused as a safe and tarnish-resistant place to store your jewellery for years to come.
Home-Compostable Shipping Materials
Our shipping boxes are made from recycled or FSC® certified cardboard, they are home-compostable and recyclable. Shipping mailers, shipping labels, stickers, and sticky tape are all certified home-compostable.
We use direct thermal printing for our stickers and labels, which cuts down on waste as it does not require ink, cartridges, or toner, and instead uses heat to create images.
How To Compost:
If you don’t compost at home, they can be sent to composting facilities to be properly broken down and composted. If you are in Australia, you can click here to find a composter near you. Or visit sharewaste.com to find a local home-composting enthusiast near you!
GIVING BACK
Donating a Portion of Sales
Tiinyworlds donates 5% of online orders, and as the tiny business grows we intend to increase this contribution.
Our donations go to various not-for-profit Environmental and Conservation organisations and efforts, supporting vital work for the environment and biodiversity, and Human Rights organisations within Australia.
